One of the best places to spend the day on vacation in the area of Del Rio is to explore the beautiful Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, which has eleven thousand acres that are free to be explored. The refuge has a great gift shop that sells much needed items for visitors such as tents, stoves, charcoal, toiletries and other camping supplies.

If you enjoy horseback riding, then you will love exploring the magnificent elk and mule deer that roam the western end of town. There are many excellent trails that you can ride on and they are all marked with signs and are very well kept.

When you are in the Texas Hill Country, you cannot go far without being sure to stop by one of the many beautiful cemeteries in the area. The life-size replica of the old west town of San Antonio is located on the town square and is one of the highlights of the Texas Hill Country.
