Area Code 808 - Information about Hawaii

The southern tip of the island of Hawaii has a tropical climate and is known as the Oahu area. Hawaii's largest city, Honolulu, is on the northern tip of the island.

As a result of the beautiful weather on the southern tip of Oahu, there is a lot of tourist traffic in Hilo and Honolulu. When you are visiting the areas, you will notice that they have been blessed with ocean breezes that are so pleasant to breathe. Of course, it is not so comfortable to sleep under the ocean breezes, but if you have friends, you can get a motel room on the oceanfront to enjoy the night.

Hilo, on the other hand, is much different. It is very sunny all year long, so it tends to be a good place for vacationers. Although it is very cold in the winter, it doesn't have the cold as much as Oahu does, and that is where most of the tourists are staying during the winter.

Since Oahu is situated in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, many people will fly into Hilo, which is south of Oahu, when they are coming from the northern area of the world. It is convenient for them because of the warm weather.

Kailua-Kona is the name of the community just north of Hilo that is home to its own native culture. The Kailua community is unique because it includes a Buddhist temple, the world's largest domestic cat sanctuary, a century-old, sugar mill, and the largest Hawaiian music school in the world. The inhabitants of Kailua are known as Kona people.

Hilo is a bit colder than Hilo because it is part of the Hilo region, which lies on the island of Hawaii. This area is home to two towns, Waimea and Napili. Waimea, though it is a small town, is famous for being home to one of the last, secluded lava caves left on the Island of Hawaii.

Hilaire is a large, clean, tree-lined community on the northern tip of Oahu. Hilaire has beautiful beaches and park areas, as well as a small shopping area, and there is plenty of room for everybody to move around without any problem.

To get to Hilaire, you may take the train from Honolulu. There is a ferry from Kailua to this beautiful community, but the closest you can get to this is probably about an hour's drive. It is quite a way to get to town, but it is well worth it to come to visit this wonderful community.
