Area Code 619 - Information about California

El Cajon and Chula Vista are near the southern edge of San Diego County, which makes them, to some degree, California suburbs. Both cities are located in the central San Diego county region. The nearby Los Angeles metropolitan area is well-known as the second largest city in California, but California is what you call the Western half of the United States.

To put it in perspective, though, El Cajon and Chula Vista have a relatively low crime rate. Therefore, the citizens of those cities can be confident that they will not be troubled by crime more than the average Californian. Those living in Los Angeles, though, have a slightly different perspective. Because Los Angeles is considering the third largest city in California, there are plenty of eyes on it.

In fact, San Diego is just a short drive away from the Imperial City, or San Francisco, which has a higher crime rate. L.A., on the other hand, is only about an hour's drive away. However, most of the residents of El Cajon and Chula Vista do not feel any extra strain from the additional security of the area's proximity to the epicenter of the L.A. criminal element.

Fortunately, even though El Cajon and Chula Vista are somewhat isolated, many tourists make the effort to take advantage of the beautiful mountains, scenic vistas, and outdoor recreation activities found within California. Even if the crowds of Los Angeles get in the way of your plans to explore the local California wilderness, you will still be able to enjoy the scenic sights that you can't find within Los Angeles. For example, you may want to visit Griffith Park or Camelback Ranch State park, which are located in the Chula Vista area. If you want to see the view from the top of Mount Wilson, there is always La Tuna Canyon.

You may think that visiting these stunning and attractive natural environs is an expensive venture, but the quality of the accommodations that you can find can easily offset the costs. Whether you are staying in a small condo near the river, a loft apartment in an L.A. landmark building, or a spacious house overlooking the Pacific Ocean, you will be happy with your decision to stay in California.

At the same time, though, it may be wise to invest in some mosquito repellent in the Los Angeles area, or else you may wish to seek medical attention if you feel that you are becoming a bit ill after spending a long day in the outdoors. These insects thrive in urban areas and as a result, have been known to carry diseases that could have adverse affects on the human body. You should always check with your doctor before traveling, especially if you have certain medical conditions.

Chula Vista is also located close to several large wildlife refuges, such as the Capri Wildlife Refuge and Big Sur National Recreation Area, where you can see bird and animal habitats, which are home to thousands of bird species, mammals, reptiles, and other wildlife. You may also be able to watch animals that are native to North America such as the California Condor, the Black Bear, and the Ocelot, which are all found in Southern California.

If you are traveling in search of an exciting vacation that offers a lot of excitement, then maybe you should consider exploring all that the California coastline has to offer. Many people make the decision to visit San Diego and Mexico because of the opportunities that these areas have to offer. You may not find much amusement parks and water parks in San Diego, but you will find these areas packed with some of the most exciting beaches and oceanfront locations anywhere in the United States.
